1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of Ampz LLC’s (“Ampz,” “we,” “our,” “us”) portable charger rental kiosks, website (getampz.com), and mobile web application (rent.getampz.com).
By renting a charger, scanning a kiosk QR code, or using our services, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use Ampz services.
2. Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use Ampz services. Users under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian.
3. Rental Process
To rent a charger, you must:

Scan the QR code at an Ampz kiosk

Provide a valid payment method

Agree to these Terms

Remove the charger from the kiosk once unlocked
By beginning a rental, you authorize Ampz to:

Charge rental fees
-
Charge late fees
-
Charge replacement fees (if applicable)

Charge taxes and processing fees

4. Rental Fees & Billing
Ampz charges rental fees based on the pricing shown at the kiosk and on the rental web app. Fees may include:

Hourly rental rate
-
Daily maximum fee
-
Deposit (if applicable)
-
Late return fees
-
Replacement fees for lost or damaged chargers
-
Taxes and Stripe payment processing fees
Your payment method will be charged automatically once your rental ends or when required per our billing logic.
4.1 Security Deposit
For certain rentals, Ampz may charge a security deposit at the time of rental. This deposit:

Is fully refundable if the charger is returned properly
-
May be partially or fully forfeited if the charger is lost, damaged, or not returned
-
May be used to cover replacement costs, late fees, or unpaid rental fees
-
Is automatically released when the rental is completed and verified
The deposit amount is displayed on the kiosk and in the rental web app before a rental begins.
If a deposit release is delayed due to bank processing times, this is outside of Ampz’s control.
5. Return Policy for Chargers
A charger must be returned to any Ampz kiosk that shows as active and available on the Ampz station map.
The rental ends only when:

The charger is fully reinserted into an open slot

The kiosk confirms a successful return
-
You receive a return confirmation on your device
If a charger is inserted incorrectly, damaged, or returned to an inactive kiosk, the rental may continue, and additional fees could apply.
6. Lost, Unreturned, or Damaged Chargers
If a charger is:

Not returned within the allotted maximum rental period
-
Returned damaged
-
Lost or stolen while in your possession
Ampz may charge a replacement fee, typically between $25–$45, depending on model and availability.
This fee covers the cost of the charger, maintenance, and handling.
If your rental was initiated using Tap-to-Pay, the deposit may convert into the full replacement fee if the charger is not returned within the maximum rental period.
Ampz may charge your payment method again if:

The deposit is insufficient

Additional fees are required
-
The rental continues past the allowed time
7. Device Compatibility
Ampz chargers are compatible with most modern smartphones and small electronic devices.
Ampz is not responsible if:

A device charges slowly
-
A device does not support fast-charging
-
A device is incompatible due to unique manufacturer limitations
Users are responsible for confirming their own device’s compatibility.
8. User Responsibilities
You agree to:

Use the charger safely and responsibly
-
Not modify, dismantle, or tamper with any Ampz equipment
-
Keep the charger dry and protected
-
Return the charger within the rental period
-
Use the service only for lawful purposes
-
Not resell, loan, or give away Ampz chargers
You acknowledge that chargers may contain tracking, diagnostics, and usage data for security and operational purposes.
9. Location Data
Ampz collects location information to:

Display nearby charging kiosks
-
Identify where rentals begin and end
-
Prevent fraud or lost chargers
-
Improve service coverage
Location access occurs only during active use of the rental platform.
10. Equipment Damage or Malfunctions
If a kiosk or charger malfunctions:

Stop using the device immediately

Contact Ampz support at info@getampz.com

You may request a fee review if the malfunction caused unintended fees
Ampz is not liable for:

Phone damage resulting from charging
-
Loss of data on your device
-
Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
11. Payment Authorization
By starting a rental, you authorize Ampz to charge:

Rental fees
-
Daily cap fees
-
Replacement fees
-
Taxes
-
Service charges
Ampz uses Stripe as its payment processor. You agree to Stripe’s terms and conditions when using our service.
We may place temporary holds or pre-authorizations on your payment method.
11.1 Multiple Payment Platforms
Ampz uses more than one payment processor depending on the rental method:

Stripe for web-based rentals

Nayax for Tap-to-Pay rentals at kiosks
By using the service, you agree to the terms of the payment platform used for your rental.
Ampz does not store full card numbers for any transaction.
12. Tap-to-Pay Rentals (Nayax Terminals)
Some Ampz kiosks allow users to begin a rental by tapping a contactless card, phone, or wearable device using a Nayax payment terminal.
By using Tap-to-Pay, you acknowledge and agree that:

No account is required
You may complete a rental without creating an Ampz account or entering personal information. -
Terms apply automatically
By tapping to rent a charger, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and all payment terms, even if you do not view them through the web app. -
Deposit is charged immediately
A security deposit may be charged at the moment of tap activation. -
Final rental fee is adjusted at return

If the rental fee is less than the deposit, the difference is refunded
-
If the rental fee exceeds the deposit, an additional charge may be applied
-
If the charger is not returned, the full deposit may be kept as a replacement fee
-

Your issuing bank may hold the deposit
Ampz releases the deposit upon successful return; however, your bank may take 1–7 days to reflect the refund. -
Tap-to-Pay uses Nayax as the payment processor
Nayax processes these payments securely. Ampz does not store card numbers or contactless payment credentials. -
Rental starts immediately upon tap
You are responsible for the charger until it is returned and confirmed by an Ampz kiosk.
13. Account Suspension
Ampz may suspend or terminate your access for:

Repeated late returns

Fraudulent activity
-
Chargebacks or disputes filed without cause
-
Abusive behavior toward staff or venues
-
Tampering with kiosks or equipment
14. Service Availability
Ampz does not guarantee:

Kiosk availability
-
Charger availability
-
Network availability
-
Compatibility with all devices
Kiosk downtime, connectivity issues, or technical problems may temporarily affect service.
15. Changes to Pricing or Terms
Ampz may update pricing, features, or these Terms at any time.
Updates will be posted on this page with a new “Last Updated” date.
Your continued use of Ampz services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Refunds & Disputes
Ampz reviews refund requests on a case-by-case basis, including:

Machine malfunction

Charger not dispensing
-
Incorrect billing
-
Failure to end rental due to kiosk or network error

17. Liability & Disclaimers
Ampz is not responsible for:

Loss of data

Device malfunction or battery degradation

Injury resulting from improper use of chargers

Damages arising from failure to follow instructions
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ampz limits liability for direct damages to the amount paid for the affected rental.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
